On my first trip to Peru, I fell in love with the cuisine. The spices, sauces and dishes were so different than what I knew. So whenever I come back to the birthplace of potatoes, I only breathe and fresscalate.
One of my favourite Peruvian snacks are Canchitas serranas. They don’t seem special, but appearances are deceptive. These roasted or deep-fried corn kernels are the perfect savoury snack, I can highly recommend the salted version.
So whenever you find yourself in a Peruvian restaurant, you might get lucky to be munching on those babies before the food arrives. Canchitas serranas can also be found in Peruvian food stores or stores with goodies from South America. Make sure to keep an eye out!
